Did You Spot These Quick Community Cameos in Avengers: Endgame?

Warning: Mild spoilers for Avengers: Endgame ahead.

With all the speed and action of Avengers: Endgame, it's tough to catch the quick Easter eggs Marvel sneaks into the background. Blink once and you might miss an essential plot point, a teaser for the next installment, or a fun cameo. For instance, did you spot the two Community alumni who made their way into the movie? That's right, Ken Jeong and Yvette Nicole Brown, aka Ben Chang and Shirley Bennett, make their way onscreen for a few seconds.

Jeong plays a security guard who discovers Ant-Man after the hero is found in a storage unit following the five-year time jump. Jeong's appearance is short and sweet, but not even a cap and mustache could keep us from figuring out his true identity. His former costar, however, is less disguised during her own cameo. Brown gets a full elevator ride with Captain America, and almost puts him and Iron Man at risk for arrest.

There's an easy (and heartwarming) explanation for Jeong and Brown's appearances in the film. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo used to be executive producers on Community, and they make an effort to feature past cast members in their Marvel projects. Danny Pudi (Abed Nadir) appears in Captain America: Winter Soldier and fans can spot Jim Rash (Dean Pelton) in Captain America: Civil War. Donald Glover (Troy Barnes) also shows up in Spider-Man: Homecoming, although the Russo brothers don't have a hand in that movie. Since Avengers: Endgame is reportedly the Russos' last Marvel film, their final tribute to Greendale Community College is all the more touching.

Is There a Reason Bran Lures the Night King to the Weirwood Tree? Here's What We Know

As the Battle of Winterfell raged on Game of Thrones, a quieter battle was taking place inside the walls of the castle. Theon Greyjoy and a handful of soldiers stood in the godswood with Bran Stark, waiting for the Night King's inevitable arrival and hoping to be able to defend Bran. As they wait, it appears that they're also guarding the weirwood tree, the mystical tree imbued with ancient magic. So were the soldiers actually concerned with protecting the magical tree, or was it just coincidence that they were there?

Although the weirwood tree is very powerful, the soldiers are ultimately there to protect Bran. Theon personally swears to defend Bran, even if it means laying down his life, and he's the one in charge of the squad in the godswood. At the crux of the plan is using Bran as bait to lure the Night King to Winterfell, since Bran has been "marked" by the Night King and therefore can be found no matter where he goes. As Bran explains, he (as the Three-Eyed Raven) is the Night King's number one enemy because he holds all the knowledge and stories of the Seven Kingdoms; wiping him out would take all that history and memory away forever. It's not clear if his prophetic visions ever foresaw that the Night King would be killed in the godswood, but it's possible: Bran did give Arya the Valyrian steel dagger she used to kill the Night King.

The choice of location isn't entirely coincidental, though. In one of Bran's Three-Eyed Raven flashbacks, he watches the Night King's origin story: an ordinary man was captured by the Children of the Forest, bound to a weirwood tree, and stabbed through the heart with a piece of dragonglass. The Night King, as an entity, was thus born in front of a weirwood tree; it seems fitting that he dies in front of one, too.

Game of Thrones: The Meaningful Story Behind the Dagger Arya Gives to Sansa

While most of the attention has been on the massive battlefield sequence on Sunday night's Game of Thrones, we have to remember that there was a second battle (or near-battle) at hand as well. While some of Westeros's best fighters and biggest armies face off against the Night King's army, the non-combatants wait deep in the crypts of Winterfell, which they assume are the safest place to wait out the battle. Sansa Stark, Lady of Winterfell, leads this group, along with sort-of-ex-husband Tyrion Lannister, and even though Sansa has never been a physical fighter, she's prepared, thanks to her sister, Arya.

Before the sisters go to their separate stations, Arya hands her sister a dagger to protect herself and those hiding in the crypts. "Stick 'em with the pointy end," she teases when Sansa protests she doesn't know how to fight. The dagger Arya gives to her sister isn't just any dagger, though: it's one of the daggers that Gendry has been forging. Not only is it a subtle connection between two people Arya considers "family," but it serves to foreshadow a plot twist that many were already expecting.

Arya specifically gives Sansa not just any dagger, but one made of dragonglass: the substance that's effective against wights. Theoretically, with Sansa and the others hiding in the crypts, they shouldn't have needed an anti-wight weapon, but as many fans had predicted, it nearly came in handy. The Night King raises the dead in Winterfell's crypts, leaving Sansa to lead the way to try to get everyone there to safety. Fortunately, Arya is able to kill the Night King - destroying his army at the same time - before Sansa actually needed to use the dragonglass dagger. Even so, it's the first time we've seen Sansa fully battle-ready and this close to actually entering the fray of combat, and it's a great moment for the character as the series hurtles towards its epic conclusion.

Let's Talk About What Happens to Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame

Warning: are you ready for some Avengers: Endgame spoilers? No? Then you better stop reading right now.

After watching Avengers: Endgame, you'll likely come away with a few thoughts. Like, "Wow, I can't believe we sat through all of that without peeing!" Or maybe, "Wow, I can't believe I'm still hyperventilating and crying, this is getting out of hand!" Either option is acceptable, for what it's worth, and if you are indeed an emotional wreck by the end of things, then know this - you're not alone. We all knew some big deaths were coming, but they still managed to take us by surprise. In addition to the gut-wrenching loss of Tony Stark, we also watch Natasha "Nat" Romanoff (aka Black Widow) die during her journey to find the Soul Stone.

Scarlett Johansson has played Nat ever since first appearing in 2010's Iron Man 2, when she poses as a new personal assistant for Tony Stark named Natalie Rushman. Later, of course, Nick Fury arrives and tells Tony that the badass woman who's been "working" for him is actually a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, which sets into motion the ever-expanding MCU.

We've since seen her develop intimate friendships with new friends on the team, particularly with Steve/Captain America and Bruce/Hulk. (The latter bond nearly verges on dipping into romance at one point in Avengers: Age of Ultron, though that's a plot point that many fans like to forget ever happened.) She also introduces Clint/Hawkeye to the group, having worked with him for years previously. Given how integral Nat has become to the Avengers, there's a bitter irony to the fact that she's the first of the group to die in Endgame.

Much of the film's plot hinges around the team's effort to figure out a way to reverse Thanos's snap and bring back their dusted friends, a cause that Nat is particularly obsessed with. All of the remaining Avengers deal with their loss in different ways - leading group therapy sessions, becoming deadly vigilantes - but Nat seems to give up caring about anything but finding a way to bring people back, throwing herself entirely into her work. (This includes her blond hair, by the way, which she lets grow out into an, um, interesting blond-red ombre.)

Fortunately Tony figures out how to successfully time travel using Pym Particles, and they're able to go back in time and collect the Infinity Stones before Thanos does in hopes of using the gauntlet themselves. That way they can reverse the villain's murderous snap and cancel out his plan of vengeance entirely. The group splits up in pairs to retrieve certain stones, with Nat and Clint (aka Hawkeye) on the hook for the Soul Stone.

The orange Soul Stone makes its first MCU appearance in Infinity War, when we learn that Thanos tasked Gamora with finding the stone some time before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy. She discovers a map to the stone's location on the planet Vormir and burns it in an attempt to keep Thanos from collecting all six stones. He still does, and the Soul Stone is the most brutal to retrieve - he ruthlessly trades Gamora's life for the stone, which requires a soul for a soul.

When Nat and Clint arrive at Vormir and encounter the Keeper of the Soul Stone (aka Red Skull), he informs them of the price of taking the stone, igniting a fierce, passionate argument between the two longtime friends. Nat insists she throw herself from the cliff so that Clint has a chance at reuniting with his family one day, while Clint says he wants to sacrifice himself in hopes of giving his family a better life (with Nat to watch over them, presumably).

After a violent scuffle that involves each of them saving the other from jumping, only to try to fling themselves off instead, they both end up dangling off the cliff - Clint is attached to the rope thanks to a mechanism on his suit's belt, and has one hand holding Nat up. He refuses to let her go over and over again, until she simply says "It's OK" with tears in her eyes and pushes off. She plummets off the cliff to her death, laying at the base of the cliff in a similar position to Gamora when she suffered the same fate.

Clint wakes up to find the glowing Soul Stone in his hand and his best friend gone. Later, when all the stones have been collected in Tony's custom made Iron Gauntlet, the Hulk puts it on and decides to try to snap himself to bring everyone who dies at the end of Infinity War back. He succeeds, bringing back everyone from Clint's family to T'Challa to the birds tweeting outside. He later admits to Steve that he also tried to will Nat back to life, but like Gamora, her death occurred before the stones were collected and thus cannot be reversed.

Black Widow's death is definitely an unexpected one, but it packs nowhere near the emotional punch that Tony's untimely demise does later on in the film. Part of that is because her friendship with Hawkeye is one of the more underdeveloped relationships in the franchise, and part of it is because Nat is an underdeveloped character, period.

She's consistently been relegated to being the tough, stoic supporting figure to leads like Captain America and Iron Man despite being the only female Avenger and boasting a rich backstory. Even in death she has to make another sacrifice for a male character, one who wasn't even important enough to be included in Infinity War, we might add. It's frustrating, and Nat deserved better.

There's an argument to be made that her sacrifice is hinted at from the start of the film, since she's consumed by saving the new "family" she lost in the snap, and of course it's a valiant way to go out no matter how you look at it. It's just that, for a character that has been a part of the MCU since Iron Man 2, her death has a surprisingly small impact on the emotional core of the film.

The studio dragged their heels for years when fans begged for Black Widow merchandise and an origin film of her own. Luckily, that all changed when the Black Widow standalone film was finally announced in January 2018. So, even though she's gone for good (at least in this timeline), we still have more Nat to look forward to. Let's hope Marvel uses it as an opportunity to give the character the depth she should've gotten years ago.

Game of Thrones: The Final Moment Between Jorah and Daenerys Was a LOT to Handle

Warning: The following post contains spoilers about the Battle of Winterfell on Game of Thrones. Proceed with caution!

After 82 minutes of heart-racing bloodshed in the battle between the living and the Night King's Army of the Dead, Game of Thrones fans have a lot to process. While Westeros's most dangerous assassin Arya Stark takes down the Night King, many beloved characters fall to his deadly army. Little Lyanna Mormont dies by bravely taking out a dead giant. Theon Greyjoy is impaled by the Night King after protecting Bran throughout the battle. And Ser Jorah Mormont dies while protecting his queen, Daenerys.

Toward the end of the episode, Jorah and Dany find themselves alone on the battlefield, forced to fight off a horde of the undead. He uses the sword Samwell gave him in last week's episode to protect his love (reminder: he believes he was put on this Earth to defend Dany), but in doing so, he endures multiple stab wounds.

As the Army of the Dead collapses thanks to Arya's act of bravery, Jorah dies in Dany's arms. Needless to say, she is incredibly emotional. With Rhaegal by her side, comforting her and also reeling from the damage done to Winterfell, fans can see Daenerys processing the loss of her loyal protector.

"There had never been a moment where she more needed someone to fight to protect her than this moment," series creator D.B. Weiss said in an Inside the Episode clip. "If he could have chosen a way to die, this is how he would've chosen to die." After everything Jorah and Daenerys have been through together since season one, it's a heartbreaking death to witness, but we can't imagine he would go out any other way than protecting his queen. Ahead, see how fans are reacting to Jorah's death.

LOL at This "Alternative Ending" to the Battle of Winterfell, Courtesy of Isaac Hempstead-Wright

Warning: Game of Thrones season eight spoilers ahead!

Game of Thrones has spent the better part of eight seasons blowing scorching-hot dragon fire all over the concept of anyone having a truly happy ending, but the recent Battle of Winterfell left fans pleasantly surprised when Arya swooped in out of nowhere to kill the Night King. Behind the scenes, it looks like an entirely different - and even nicer - story was taking place, and we are here for the sweetness.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Isaac Hempstead-Wright shared a photo of himself and Night King actor Vladimír Furdík in full character on what looks to be a particularly whimsical day of filming. "Here's a still taken from the alternate episode 3 ending in which the Night King becomes Bran's carer and they both live happily ever after," Hempstead-Wright captioned the photo, in which Furdík is holding up an umbrella to protect them both.

Hey, maybe the Night King is actually a super chill guy at heart who cares about his friends and even goes out to get White Walker manicures with them (said no one ever). While that's a stretch, to say the least, it's fun to imagine an alternate ending where the Night King actually takes care of Bran, especially considering all of the dark connections between them in the show. We'll have to wait and see what's in store for Bran, but in the meantime, take a peek at the preview for next week's episode.

On My Block Is Getting a Third Season, and We Can't Wait to See What the Gang Gets Up To

Grab Juanita and get ready to celebrate - On My Block has officially been renewed for season three!

The announcement comes only a month after season two of the Netflix teen comedy was released on the site. The series follows a group of high school kids who tackle the everyday struggles of growing up in the fictional neighborhood of Freeridge in South Central LA. Starring Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, and Jessica Marie Garcia, the show's third season currently has an order for eight episodes, one fewer than season two.

"The entire On My Block team is beyond thrilled and grateful to continue telling this uniquely fun and important story with a third season," showrunner Lauren Iungerich told The Hollywood Reporter. "Four years ago, I had an idea to make a show for teenagers who didn't see themselves represented on TV and to do it right and today we've all watched a generation of kids passionately express how this show makes them feel seen and heard."

Season two of OMB ends in such a surprising and dramatic way that we have so many questions we can't wait to be answered. We can't wait to see what the gang gets up to in season three!

Game of Thrones MVP: Arya and Melisandre Prove a Bit of Magic and Trickery Goes a Long Way

Welcome to Game of Thrones: MVP of the Week, a weekly feature in which we crown the character who stands out most during each episode of season eight. The MVP may have had the most kills, given the best monologue, or died the most heroic death. (Hey, we're just covering all our bases!)

I'm going to be honest: nothing about Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones goes the way I thought it would. Of course, I knew there were going to be some devastating goodbyes (Alfie Allen deserves ALL the awards for his work as Theon, like, wow) and the battle scenes were going to be a little hard to watch - though I thought that would be for emotional reasons, not lighting issues - but I definitely didn't expect the Battle of Winterfell to end like that!

Arya Stark, first of her name, really creeps through the wreckage of her family home and straight-up murks the Night King. Melisandre sashays her way into Winterfell and basically invents fire for the Northerners. How could I not declare these two badasses as the winners of this week's MVP award? They are pivotal in ending the Battle of Winterfell and saving the whole damn Seven Kingdoms from a seasons-long menace.

And yes, I get it, everyone does their part during this war. But there's absolutely no denying that without these two leading ladies, the Battle of Winterfell would have been a whole lot bloodier. Keep reading to rejoice in the greatness that these two women bring to "The Long Night," and pay your respects to our runners-up, because they're important, too!

According to Lupita Nyong'o, White Walkers Actually Have a Lot in Common With the Tethered

After her incredible performance in Jordan Peele's mind-bending horror film, Us, it's safe to say that Lupita Nyong'o knows a thing or two about what makes a good villain. The Oscar winner is also a devoted Game of Thrones fan, which explains why in preparation for one of the most highly anticipated (and anxiety-inducing) episodes of the season on Sunday night, the actress took a moment to compare her twisted Us character to GoT's own Night King.

In a Twitter thread shared just ahead of the Battle of Winterfell, Nyong'o pointed out the major similarities and differences between the Tethered - the murderous, red-jumpsuit-wearing body doubles on a mission to decimate and replace America's population in Us - and the White Walkers. From both groups' signature weapons to the note about their fashion choices, I have to admit that some points were made.

Read ahead to see some of Nyong'o's thoughts as you take some time to cool down from Sunday night's insane battle episode.

The MCU Says Goodbye to Steve Rogers in the Perfect Way in Avengers: Endgame

Warning: everything beyond this point is a spoiler! Proceed with caution.

As you go into your screening of Avengers: Endgame, you should prepare yourself for a few things. You'll be thinking stuff like, "God, I hope my bladder makes it through this" and "Am I actually prepared for the devastation about to happen on this movie screen tonight?" These are totally relatable feelings, especially since Endgame wraps up at just over three hours and will probably leave you emotionally wrecked.

Let's face it: we all expected that tragic deaths were coming, but that doesn't make it any less heartbreaking. Not only do we lose the daddy of the MCU himself, Tony Stark, but we also have to say goodbye to the badass Russian spy that inspired us all to take at least one Krav Maga class. (At least for now . . .) But Endgame isn't just about the Avengers reversing the snap; it's about closing out an era. Our favorite characters set off for new adventures with new friends and some of them manage to find their happily ever afters. One hero in particular, the first Avenger in fact, does exactly that.

Does Captain America Survive the Battle Against Thanos?

Endgame begins with the rescue of Tony Stark and Nebula by Captain Marvel and their return to the Avengers Compound, where the remaining heroes attempt to figure out a way to bring back the people who died after Thanos's snap. Chris Evans's newly shaved Steve Rogers (the first tragedy of the film) is gung-ho to head back and kick Thanos's ass, but their mission doesn't end the way they expected when the heroes learn that Thanos has destroyed the Infinity Stones. Suddenly, five years have passed and Steve has followed in the footsteps of his friend Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and is leading group therapy for those who have been left behind from the Snap. Then, Scott Lang finds his way to the compound, fresh from the Quantum Realm and bearing ideas on how to go back in time to save everyone who has been dusted.

After some trial and error, the Avengers band together with the plan to go back in time and collect the Infinity Stones before Thanos ever does, and then return to their own timeline. Of course, plans can never go off without a hitch, which leads Tony and Steve to go even further back in time for an emergency retrieval. They end up in 1970, where Tony runs into his father Howard Stark and Steve runs into the "love of his life," Peggy Carter. Well, to be more specific, Steve stares at her through the window of a darkened office where she doesn't notice him. In the end, Steve and Tony are successful in grabbing the Tesseract, but the trip strikes a nerve with Steve as he remembers just how much he's lost.

With all the stones collected and Tony's Iron Gauntlet created, Hulk volunteers to wear the new gauntlet and snap everyone back. Since the glove beams out enough gamma radiation to kill a mere mortal, though, beings like Thanos and the Hulk are the only ones who can survive using it - it does still severely (but not fatally) wound them. Luckily, Hulk survives and the dusted come back home. They arrive just in time for an all-out superhero brawl against a past version of Thanos, who has now traveled through time to battle for the Infinity Stones and destroy half the world all over again. (This movie gets a little confusing, OK?)

For a hot minute, it really looks like the remaining Avengers (now Steve, Tony, and Thor) are going to go down in a bad way. Steve gloriously wields both his shield AND Thor's hammer Mjölnir
to bring the Mad Titan down to size, but when Thanos's massive intergalactic army arrives, it's obvious that things are about to get pretty dicey for our heroes. Thank the Russo brothers for action clichés, because the entirety of the dusted warriors arrive in time to go head-to-head as Captain America says, "Avengers, assemble."

The battle for the Infinity Stones ends when Iron Man steals the stones straight out of Thanos's golden glove and places them into a makeshift gauntlet built into his suit. He snaps his fingers, despite knowing what it'll do to his body, and is able to kill Thanos and wipe out his army, who all disintegrate the same way people did in Infinity War. Tony's sacrificial snap instantly sends a fatal wave of gamma energy through his body, frying his right side and rendering him unable to even really speak. He dies on the battlefield, with his wife, Pepper, and protégé, Peter Parker, at his side.

What Happens to Captain America at the End of Avengers: Endgame?

The Avengers gather once more for a small funeral held at Tony's lakeside home, where they pay their respects and say goodbye to the man that basically brought them all together. As people begin to part, Hulk, Sam, and Bucky stick around so Steve can quickly return the stones to their own timeline. When he doesn't come back in the designated few seconds, however, the men panic. Then, Bucky notices a lone, much older man sitting on a bench near the lake with his back to them.

When Sam approaches him, he realizes it's actually Steve, who's now around the age of 100 (potentially more). Older Steve reveals that he used his last time jump to go back and live a long and happy life with Peggy, eventually getting married to her. He encourages Sam to try on the shield, effectively passing on the Captain America mantel to his friend.

It's a sweet (though mildly confusing, considering the time travel loopholes) ending that finally allows Steve to get that dance he missed out on when he went into the ice in 1945. Though there's no doubt that Steve found a family with the Avengers, he always felt out of place and out of time, longing for the woman he left behind. And with his adventuring wrapping up in Endgame, he finally seems content. Goodbye, Steve Rogers. Looks like this is the end of the line.

All the Major Characters Who Return in Avengers: Endgame

Warning: spoilers for Avengers: Endgame ahead!

It's not entirely a spoiler to say that many of the characters who died in Avengers: Infinity War don't stay dead by the end of Avengers: Endgame. After all, the "snapped away" characters do include some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's newest heroes, as well as at least one who has another film only a few months away. But not everyone who died in Infinity War has been brought back to life. Ahead, we've got a rundown of every single character who was brought back from Thanos's snap, plus where we leave them in the final minutes of Endgame, and who we may or may not see again soon.

Uh, So, There Are a Lot of People Who Think the Hulk Is Hot Now After Seeing Avengers: Endgame

Warning: slightly disturbing spoilers about the Hulk in Avengers: Endgame ahead.

Here's something you're probably not expecting to happen to you after seeing the latest Avengers movie: developing a strange, disturbing, inexplicable crush on the Hulk. And no, I don't mean Mark Ruffalo playing the Hulk's human alter-ego, Bruce Banner; I mean the big, green, smashing machine version of the Avenger. The Hulk, Hulk.

The character got a bit of a makeover in Thor: Ragnarok, which was apparently filmed after the Hulk finally found an eyebrow threading place he enjoyed, but we didn't get to see much of him in Infinity War given Bruce's internal struggles with the giant force living inside him. But in Avengers: Endgame, we touch base with Bruce after he's decided to stop fighting the Hulk. Now the two coexist in one vaguely human, mostly Hulk-like body - he's still a moss-colored behemoth, but now he wears navy blue sweaters. And glasses. And speaks with Mark Ruffalo's calm, perfect voice. He's not as chilling as Superman's CGI'd face in Justice League, and not as cartoonish as Shrek, but somewhere uncomfortably (and attractively) in the middle. All those guys holding fish on Tinder? Shaking.

Since most of Hulk's storyline in Endgame revolves around reversing Thanos's deadly Snap, there isn't much time to check in on what he does in his free time. Fortunately, we have a pretty good idea:

  • Endgame Hulk walked in the Women's March with you.
  • He also stayed up all night making signs covered in hilarious science puns for both of you to carry.
  • Endgame Hulk would probably say Wes Anderson is his favorite director.
  • Endgame Hulk has an entire closet just for his cable-knit sweater collection.
  • Endgame Hulk would never say "All Lives Matter."
  • Endgame Hulk would tell you that you look pretty with no makeup on - and mean it.
  • Endgame Hulk figured out how to slow down the rapid effects of climate change but is still really humble about it.
  • Endgame Hulk's guilty pleasure is an apple martini.
  • If he really had to choose, Endgame Hulk would say a Golden Retriever is his favorite kind of dog.
  • Endgame Hulk knows how to sail.
  • Endgame Hulk would go with you to the farmer's market every Saturday morning.
  • Endgame Hulk is on a first name basis with the Obama family.
  • Endgame Hulk is really vocal about how much going to therapy has helped him.
  • Endgame Hulk prefers to read "real" books instead of on his Kindle.
  • He definitely still has a library card, too.
  • Endgame Hulk thinks Godzilla was just misunderstood.
  • Endgame Hulk could write a thesis about toxic masculinity, if you asked him to.
  • Endgame Hulk truly can't taste the difference between regular milk and oat milk.
  • Endgame Hulk is the face of Big and Tall's new eco-friendly clothing line.
  • He also subscribes to the Lands' End catalog.
  • Endgame Hulk is spending next year abroad working for habitat for humanity to make up for all the buildings he smashed.
  • Endgame Hulk is thinking about ordering a set of tarot cards from Amazon.
  • Endgame Hulk can't come to the phone right now because he's too busy organizing a Twitter campaign to fight for equal pay.

Just in case you don't believe me, or think I desperately need to go to church, I went ahead and rounded up a few pieces of evidence from fellow Endgame audience members, which you can see ahead.

Game of Thrones: Sam May Be Smart, but He Makes 1 Big Mistake in the Battle of Winterfell

Warning: Game of Thrones fans know the night is dark and full of terrors, but this post is bright and filled with spoilers, so proceed with caution.

As much as Samwell Tarly has been a fan favorite in past seasons of Game of Thrones - it's hard not to love Jon Snow's book-smart best friend who cures Jorah Mormont of Greyscale! - there's no doubt that his last-minute decision to join the fight against the Night King's army is questionable at best and lost him some major character points in my book.

The trouble starts after Sam decides to join his friends on the Winterfell battlegrounds rather than stay in the crypt with Gilly and his son, Little Sam, like he's told. Although Sam's decision to face the Night King and the wights with the other men certainly seems noble at first, it becomes clear rather quickly that he is a big liability on the battlefield despite his best intentions to fight courageously.

Related: If This Game of Thrones Theory Is True, Cersei Should Be Very Afraid of Arya Stark

When we first see Sam in the episode, he's standing among the other soldiers of the North, looking predictably terrified. While we can't blame him for being beyond nervous while waiting for the Night King's army to converge on Winterfell, the bottom line is that he knows better than to be there. Although Sam trains with the Night's Watch and even manages to off a White Walker in season three - which is a big stinkin' deal! - it's no secret that fighting isn't a skill he's best known for. Sam has never been a stupid guy, but like any person, he has strengths and weaknesses. Reading, for example, is one of his great strengths; he was training to be a maester, after all. But fighting among the Dothraki and the Unsullied against an army of zombies? I'm convinced he knows his brain is far more valuable than his brawn.

You know who else isn't required to fight in the Battle of Winterfell? Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys's clever Hand of the King. And despite killing Tywin, fighting in the Battle of Blackwater, and outsmarting dozens of characters throughout eight long seasons, he is also given a pass when it comes to charging the battlefield. Although he isn't thrilled about being told to sit it out, Tyrion obliges and hangs back in the crypt with Sansa. With hindsight being 20/20, it would probably have been for the best if Sam had taken a page from Tyrion's book this time around. It's very possible they'll both be needed if the North takes on the Golden Company later on.

Make no mistake: the Battle of Winterfell is absolutely crazy, even for the seasoned fighters. The Dothraki are all but wiped out mere moments after they charge the enemy's front line. So it's no surprise that once both sides are engaged in hand-to-hand combat, Sam quickly emerges as the weakest link. After getting knocked down by a particularly nasty-looking wight, Sam is within inches of getting a knife to the eye. But fortunately, his buddy Dolorous Edd, the acting commander of the Night's Watch, comes to his rescue. After rolling around on the ground in the fog for what seems like an hour, Sam finally gets up after Edd begins screaming at him. And how exactly does the commander get repaid for his good deed? By taking a sword to the gut. Yikes.

As soon as Sam takes out a wight off the side of the castle, he gets overwhelmed immediately. A particularly upsetting moment crops up when Sam freaks out and practically cowers in fear as Lady Brienne and Jaime Lannister are pinned to the wall fending off at least a half-dozen zombies. At this point, it's confirmed: Sam is in over his head.

But the most emotionally charged moment comes once Jon makes his way back to the castle to take on the undead that the Night King raises again. Despite the fact that Jon sees Sam getting attacked by wights, he actively ignores him to take on Viserion instead, realizing that he may have to sacrifice his best friend to defeat the Night King.

For the first time in his life, Jon leaves Sam to fend for himself because he absolutely has to prioritize the blue-fire-breathing dragon wreaking havoc on the North's troops. Although Sam's fate is up in the air, he manages to emerge from the battle unscathed. The positive outcome certainly begs the question of how important Sam is going to be in last three episodes, since obviously there's more to his story. Will he emerge as the narrator? Or step into a high position if and when the North takes King's Landing once and for all?

When Will Fantastic Beasts 3 Hit Theaters? Looks Like We'll Have to Wait Until 2021

The third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise doesn't have a title yet, but its release date has been revealed. Sadly for fans of the J.K. Rowling universe, it's not good news.

Back in 2014, Warner Bros. announced its planned release dates for the studio's upcoming movie slate, two of which were described as "Untitled WB Event" films. It didn't take long for fans to put together that the mysterious titles - which were set for a Nov. 16, 2018, release and Nov. 20, 2020, release, respectively - were the second and third installments in the Fantastic Beasts series. The second film, The Crimes of Grindelwald, indeed came out last year on Nov. 16, but the initial release date for the as-yet-untitled third movie has been pushed back from Nov. 20, 2020.

Instead, Warner Bros. recently announced that the third film in the franchise will hit theaters on Nov. 12, 2021. Though no further details on casting and the film's title were released with the announcement, it's assumed that Eddie Redmayne, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and more stars will reprise their roles when production kicks off in the Spring of 2020.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Will Take Place Right After Endgame, but It'll Have to Address This Issue

Even when Spider-Man got dusted during Thanos's Snapture in Avengers: Infinity War, we knew he couldn't be gone for long. Why? Well, he had the sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home to attend to. Since the MCU movies aren't necessarily connected together in a linear fashion (cough, Captain Marvel), it can be confusing to straighten out Peter Parker's story in chronological order. Luckily, Spider-Man's timeline is straightforward for the most part, except for a potential time issue. Here's how it unfolds between Infinity War and the upcoming Far From Home.

In the big picture, Far From Home basically takes place after Avengers: Endgame. In June 2017, Sony executive Amy Pascal told Fandom that the Spider-Man sequel would "start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story." Let's put that into the context of everything that goes down in Endgame.

Five years after the snap, the Avengers get the Infinity Stones and undo Thanos's damage. Peter returns along with a brigade of formerly dusted superheroes as Thanos wreaks havoc on Earth. Before Tony sacrifices himself by wielding the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet, he and Peter get to hug it out one last time. While Spider-Man isn't in much of Endgame, his character anchors Tony's emotional arc. Tony is Peter's mentor, and Peter's loss is the reason why Tony gets back into the superhero game.

After the battle, Peter returns to school, solemn and shell-shocked, but relieved to see his friend Ned. Though five years have gone by, no one looks older than they were in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And why would Peter go back to school with classmates in their 20s? One explanation for this would be that all of Peter's classmates (or at least the important ones) got dusted in the Snapture. We'll have to see how Far From Home deals with this.

The Spider-Man sequel's trailer maintains the franchise's light tone, but when Peter packs his bag for Europe with his friends, he notably leaves behind his suit. He's probably processing Iron Man's heartbreaking death, but likely won't have that much time to grieve - Nick Fury drags him out of his Euro vacay to deal with Mysterio in the promo. Still, we'll be here if you need another hug, Peter.

Should young couples invest in child insurance?

There is no reason for a child with no dependents to have insurance because insurance is put in place to provide for the child in the event of a parent's untimely death and not the other way around, says Amar Pandit.
