If You're Still Not Over That Grey's Anatomy Twist, Ellen Pompeo Kindly Shared Behind-the-Scenes Photos

Longtime fans of Grey's Anatomy were truly taken by surprise during Thursday night's premiere of season 17, when Meredith and Derek were reunited again in a shocking dream sequence. Derek Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey, had previously passed away due to a severe car accident in an April 2015 episode, devastating both Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and fans. If you couldn't get enough of the emotional season premiere, luckily, Pompeo and Dempsey just shared behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot in Malibu, CA.

On Nov. 13, the actors both posted an adorable Instagram selfie of the two, as well as a photo of them hugging while wearing face masks on the gorgeous beach, reminding fans to wear a mask. "Let's love, let's heal, let's wear a mask . . . ❤️," Pompeo captioned her Instagram. Dempsey echoed her sentiment, writing, "Please let's come together, respect each other, wear a mask, and thank our first responders. They work tirelessly and risk their lives to keep us safe." Showrunner Krista Vernoff had also shared additional sweet photos of the two filming their scenes.

Luckily, this isn't the last we'll be seeing of Meredith and McDreamy in the upcoming season. Vernoff revealed to the Los Angeles Times that Dempsey is scheduled to appear three more times. Get a closer look at the pair's behind-the-scenes photos above, and prepare to be in your feels.

Ryan Murphy Is Bringing Back Your Favorite American Horror Story Stars For the Spinoff

It's been six months since Ryan Murphy first announced that there is an American Horror Story spinoff in the works, and now we're finally getting details! According to Murphy, the series will consist of 16 standalone episodes "delving into horror myths, legends and lore," and they will include familiar faces from the FX franchise.

Unlike American Horror Story, which is an anthology with a number of storylines creating the bulk of a season, the spinoff would be "one-hour contained episodes." This means that if you often find yourself confused by a season of AHS, this will be for you. The spinoff will air on FX and not Netflix, despite his recent $300 million deal.

In an American Horror Story cast Zoom call, which wasn't made public, Murphy and crew "reminisced about the good times" (like when the cast could actually get together in person) before he let everyone in on the good news. Our minds are hard at work imagining all the stories that will be told.

That's Really Keegan-Michael Key Singing in Netflix's Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

When it comes to movie musicals, comedian Keegan-Michael Key's name isn't normally the one that comes to mind. However, Key actually went to both undergraduate and graduate school for theater, earning degrees from University of Detroit-Mercy and Penn State University. He even once had a job as a singing telegram. During his "19-year detour into comedy," he was able to showcase his vocal talents on Key & Peele. So yes, the sultry vocals of Gustafson in Netflix's Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey are actually Key's. Now that you know he can really sing, it's understandable you might want to check out some of his other singing videos. Sadly, they're few and far between. Luckily, there are just enough skits and interview appearances to hopefully keep you satisfied ahead.

Matthew Perry Just Confirmed the Friends Reunion Is Happening in March

We could not be more excited: the Friends reunion is happening for real! It's been rumored for some time that there would be a reunion special of the iconic sitcom, and now it's officially in the works. So when can we watch our favorites back together again?

According to Matthew Perry, it's all happening in March 2021. "Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that's the way I like it!" Perry tweeted on Nov. 12.

The Friends reunion special was initially supposed to go hand in hand with the launch of HBO Max this past May. However, due to concerns surrounding the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), production was pushed back.

HBO Max famously snapped up the streaming rights to the entire original series of Friends, which left its previous streaming home at Netflix in November 2019. The Friends reunion will be a major must-see event right off the bat for HBO's new streaming service, which enters an increasingly crowded and competitive market for streaming.

"Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together - we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library," Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max, said in a statement in THR. "I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends - and audiences - gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans."

THR also reported that the special will be filmed on Stage 24 of the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank, CA, where the original series was shot. All six of the original stars are signed on and will also executive produce, along with a slew of other producers. The six cast members shared the news to their respective Instagrams, all using the same promotional image and the caption "It's happening" - except for Matt LeBlanc, whose post had the same caption but jokingly used a photo of the M*A*S*H cast instead.

That Time Princess Diana Surprised Prince Charles By Dancing to Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl"

Princess Diana dancing on stage to Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" might sound like the kind of storyline The Crown would make up for added drama, but it's actually a completely true story! Much to the surprise of her husband and the assorted elites gathered at a Royal Ballet gala, Diana managed to plan, rehearse, and sneak onstage to perform without anyone finding out! Here's how she pulled it off - and how she got mixed reactions.

Princess Diana famously loved dance her entire life. As a child, she took dance lessons, and at one point, she even aspired to be a ballerina, before she grew too tall as a teenager to ever be able to have a professional dance career. Of course, as a member of the aristocracy (and one of the oldest titled families in Britain), she wouldn't have been able to have a career in dance anyway, but she transformed that love for dance into patronage as an adult, including her support of the National Ballet. In 1985, she surprised onlookers when she took a twirl around the dance floor with John Travolta during a trip to the U.S., but her real performance was yet to come.

Wayne Sleep, the dancer who worked with Diana to create and perform the top-secret routine, told The Guardian his version of the story in 2017, twenty years after Diana's death. He explained that Diana had first approached him years before, hoping he could give her dance lessons, but he had been unable to commit to it because of his touring schedule. In 1985, however, the princess approached him again, this time with a one-time idea in mind.

"It was a private show for supporters and friends of the Royal Ballet. Charles was going to be in the audience and she wanted to surprise him; it was all top secret," he said. At first, he worried that their height difference (he is only 5'2", while the late princess was famously tall at 5'10") would cause a problem, but soon "realized she had a good sense of humor, and that we could have some fun with our height difference." After the performance itself and the reactions from the surprised audience, he said, "She loved it, but was most thrilled we'd kept it secret from Charles, and our rehearsals away from the paparazzi. She loved the freedom dancing gave her. A few days later, I got a letter. She wrote: 'Now I understand the buzz you get from performing.'"

Sleep told The Guardian that he and Diana remained friends for a few years after the surprising performance, with the princess frequently visiting him after dance performances or just coming to his apartment for a casual dinner. "I think we got on because we were quite similar: we were both loners; we both had to carve out our own paths . . . we didn't set much store by protocol," he reflected. When photos of their performance leaked in 1995, however, she became more distant, increasingly worried that she couldn't trust anyone, and their friendship faded.

The 2017 documentary Princess Diana: The Woman Inside revealed that not everyone was thrilled with Diana's showstopping stunt. Although it was meant as a Christmas "gift" for Prince Charles, the dance actually upset him more than anything. "She did it as a tribute to Charles. Charles wasn't terribly impressed. He thought she was showing off," royal expert Richard Kay said in the documentary.

You can see more of Sleep's retelling of the famous dance in this CBS video below:

Darren Criss Gifted Us Some Glee Secrets in Honor of the 10th Anniversary of His Debut

From the moment Blaine Anderson grabbed Kurt Hummel's hand and ran through the hall, I was sold on Darren Criss being a part of Glee. Nov. 9 marked the official 10th anniversary of Criss's first appearance as Blaine on the show, and he celebrated it the only way a Gleek could: live-streaming his reaction as he re-watched his debut episode.

Throughout the IGTV, Criss let fans in on behind-the-scenes tidbits, including how he felt about the show picking Warblers to make him look as tiny as possible before singing along to the iconic "Teenage Dream" performance. He also shared a couple of photos from filming on Instagram, captioning the post, "People always tell me how Glee changed their life, and I'm always happy to remind them how yeah, it changed mine too."

What's even wilder than the fact it's been 10 years since Blaine first appeared and five years since the show went off the air, is the fact that Criss pretty much looks the same now as he did then. Now if only he would bust out the Warbler blazer, I'd be a very happy Gleek.

Here Are 20 Couples Who Had to Work Together on Screen After Breaking Up

If you've ever shipped an onscreen couple, then you probably know the feeling of satisfaction that comes with watching your favorite characters fall in love off screen. The problem: the actors playing those characters don't always stay together. There are plenty of couples who've had to work together on screen after breaking up IRL, and we imagine that the experience is pretty awkward. Even if the actors don't share intimate scenes, filming a TV show or movie with an ex means lots of time spent together. Some A-list exes have been able to stay cordial. Others, not so much. Here are just a few celeb costars-turned-couples who had to keep working together after calling it quits.

We're Just a Little Bit Obsessed With Annie Murphy and Emily Hampshire's IRL Friendship

Alexis Rose and Stevie Budd may not have much in common on Schitt's Creek, but IRL, the actresses who play them couldn't be closer. For five years and six seasons, Annie Murphy and Emily Hampshire spent endless hours together on set, and judging from all their cute pics together on social media, the two have forged a bond for life. It's a beautiful friendship that almost never happened because - as Annie revealed to Vulture during an April 2018 interview - she originally auditioned to play Stevie but knew she could never pull off the role once she saw Emily perform. "I don't want to live in a world where Emily doesn't play Stevie!" Annie added. And we don't want to live in a world where these two aren't besties. Check out the gallery for their cutest BFF pics of all time.

You're Not Alone in Thinking The Mandalorian Theme Song Sounds Very Familiar

From the moment I heard the opening chords of The Mandalorian's theme song, I knew it reminded me of something, I just couldn't put my finger on what. It bothered me that I couldn't figure out what song I kept trying to hum along with it and Shazam wasn't any help - it just kept telling me the name of the theme song. Oddly enough, it wasn't until I was flipping through channels and came across Tropic Thunder that it hit me: the song it reminded me of was "Ball of Confusion" by The Temptations.

The bass line of the two songs are so similar that it's easy to start singing, "People movin' out, people movin' in," as the opening credits of each Mandalorian episode rolls. "I wanted the core soul to be organic. Then I wanted to add a tech sound to it," Ludwig Göransson, the composer of the theme song, previously told The Los Angeles Times. It's very much the cutting-edge vibe that The Temptations went for with "Ball of Confusion." Don't believe me? You can check out the mash-up of the two songs above or listen to each of the songs on their own ahead. While you're listening to the songs, try imagining The Child grooving to The Temptations while Mando shakes his head.

Honestly, Tayshia Adams's Interview With Jimmy Kimmel Proves She's the Cutest Bachelorette

Normally, when one of Bachelor Nation appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the grilling is so intense that the interview is more nerve-wracking than enjoyable! But when new Bachelorette Tayshia Adams made her appearance on Nov. 6, all we could think about is how sweet the former phlebotomist is!

Kimmel didn't waste any time getting into the nitty-gritty questions with Adams, questioning when Adams was called up by production to replace Clare Crawley after the older woman's surprise engagement to Dale Moss ended her time on the show prematurely. When the new Bachelorette danced around the question, all bets were off for the late-night host! He asked about her quarantine, whether she was able to chat with Clare about the remaining suitors, and he even threw out wife Molly McNearney's predictions for Adams's final four guys. Despite her repeated utterance of all forms of the word "honestly," it's safe to say that Adams played everything close to the chest and wasn't spilling any tea to Kimmel.

We guess the self-proclaimed "Rosetradamus" is just going to have to try again another time! In the meantime, we'll be here checking out Adams's new promotional photos, looking regal as the new queen of The Bachelorette.

If You Made Fun of Lil Nas X's Halloween Costume, You're Part of the Problem

By now you've probably seen Lil Nas X's amazing Halloween tribute to Nicki Minaj. While many on Twitter immediately gave it the recognition and the love it deserved, there were plenty of trolls who were quick to resort to both homophobic and transphobic insults. The unwarranted backlash Lil Nas X received from the trolls begs the question: Why is it more permissible for certain straight cisgender men to dress up as women, but the minute Lil Nas X does, people are up in arms over it?

"Why is it more permissible for certain straight cisgender men to dress up as women, but the minute Lil Nas X does, people are up in arms over it?

Bad Bunny dressing in drag for his "Yo Perreo Sola" music video didn't receive as much outright hate or as many transphobic comments. When Quincy Brown dressed as Frida Kahlo this year, the comment section of his Instagram was full of praise. There seems to be this unspoken rule that so long as a man is either dressing as a woman for a joke or is purposefully "unattractive" in womenswear, then it's cool. To be clear: Lil Nas X absolutely killed it as Nicki Minaj. His costume was so good he might as well have been a doppelgänger. Yet, people asked if he was transgender. That suggests that those making fun of his costume, or those trying to bring him down, subscribe to the antiquated assumption that transgender women aren't women - they're simply gay men in disguise. It also reasons that the people making these comments are so caught up in their sense of self they don't realize everything isn't about them. Lil Nas X didn't dress up as Nicki Minaj for you, he dressed as Nicki Minaj for himself because it made him happy.

People think they're extremely clever when they make homophobic or transphobic remarks under the guise of "constructive criticism." They're not open to learning and are a part of the reason Lil Nas X kept who he is, hidden for so long. He was afraid to let people know he was a Barb because he was worried about how it would affect his rap career if people assumed he was gay before his coming out. Even now, it's these comments that make it hard for others to have fun and enjoy themselves because they'll be harassed. Not too long after posting his costume, Lil Nas X tweeted, "bro I don't bother a soul in this industry. All I do is tweet and make bangers. Leave me alone damn." But can people leave him alone? No, they have to tell him that he's ruining families' lives, even though his life literally doesn't affect them.

Toxic masculinity is f*cked up, and until we start recognizing society's double standards, people like Lil Nas X won't ever be free.

When heterosexual cisgender men wear skirts or makeup or dress in womenswear, it's considered groundbreaking - at least where gender norms are concerned. When it comes to what a person wears, especially something as fun and silly as a Halloween costume, it shouldn't matter what a person's sexuality is. Clothes are clothes, regardless of who wears them. Lil Nas X recently tweeted that, "grown men are waking up to have group discussions about a costume I wore on Halloween." For every conversation about how great his costume was, there's likely one about how his costume is the downfall of society. Toxic masculinity is f*cked up, and until we start recognizing society's double standards, people like Lil Nas X won't ever be free.

It's okay to be jealous of Lil Nas X's costume because of how spot-on it was. What's not okay is to use his costume as the brunt of offensive jokes or as a vehicle to perpetuate your outdated worldview.

Janel Parrish's Hallmark Film, Holly & Ivy, Will Give You All the Feels: "It Has So Much Heart"

Janel Parrish knows a good holiday movie sometimes makes you laugh and cry, which is why she was so drawn to Hallmark's Holly & Ivy. The film - which premieres on Nov. 1 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries - follows the Pretty Little Liars actress as a young woman named Melody who creates a special bond with her new next-door neighbor Nina (Marisol Nichols) and her two daughters, Holly and Ivy. However, when Nina finds out an illness has returned, their lives are changed forever, and Melody quickly becomes part of their little family.

As a big fan of Christmas movies herself, Parrish was excited to make her Hallmark debut. "It's my favorite holiday," she told POPSUGAR. "I have so many traditions in my family. Christmas movies are always playing in the house even as early as right around Thanksgiving time. So I'm excited to start even earlier this year because our movie airs Nov. 1. To be able to bring Christmas cheer to people, especially right now, is really wonderful. Especially in a crazy time where we're all going through crazy things. Even this movie, the message of trauma, sometimes bringing about the most beautiful things if you let it, that message really stuck with me."

Even though the film's storyline is bittersweet as Melody, a former foster child herself, promises to take care of Nina's kids in the event that something happens, Parrish said she was drawn to the story because "it has so much heart." "I really love the idea of chosen family, that she meets these people and immediately forms this bond with them," she said. "Even though they're not her flesh and blood, she chooses them as family. When we have people in our lives that are family, we do anything for them. I also loved how they spoke about adoption. I feel like that doesn't get touched upon a lot in movies, and it's just really wonderful to watch a film about that."

Parrish was also inspired by how resilient her character is. "[My favorite part about playing Melody was] how strong she is," she said. "She hasn't had the easiest life and the easiest upbringing, but no matter what, she still perseveres. She's very much a woman who knows what she wants out of life. [She] hasn't had the best cards dealt to her, but she believes that she is going to have the life that she deserves, and she finds that no matter what. I loved her inner strength."

"We all have the capacity to feel joy, even when things are hard."

Though Parrish admitted she cried her eyes out over the ending, she hopes the film "brings much-needed cheer." "We're all in need of it," she said. "It reminds us of the things that are so important that we all have, which is family time. We all have the capacity to feel joy, even when things are hard. This movie will be a great reminder of that. Christmas is a time where you snuggle up with your family and you spend time with them and be together. I hope that people have a good therapeutic happy cry when they see this film."
